The raised garden alone requires no assembly. If using Extender Legs, the legs just need to be slotted into place and require no tools. It takes minutes!
We recommend not stacking the gardens more than three high. We also recommend not stacking a garden directly on top of another that’s been raised with four extension legs.
Yes, the garden bed itself is frost resistant and will remain undamaged over the winter. The plants on the other hand may or may not come back depending on what you’re growing.
Yes! There is a large circular cap on the inside of the garden bed. The cap can be easily removed, and the internal water reservoir cleaned and flushed out with a hose. We recommend this be done while the garden bed is completely empty. See manual for more details.
Harvi has a reservoir that sits in the bottom of the garden bed. It can be filled directly or with excess water from rain or watering. Water from the reservoir moves through holes into channels where the capillary mat sits, pulling water from the reservoir to plant roots.
Filling the reservoir can be done by putting water directly into the holes on the top rim of the garden bed, excluding the four corner holes. You’ll know that the reservoir is full when water begins to trickle out of the overflow nozzles on the bottom of the bed. Harvi’s reservoir can also be filled by watering over the top of the soil and letting the excess water run down and settle in the bottom.
This depends on weather, rainfall, and type of plants you are growing. A full 1.5-gallon reservoir under typical conditions without rain should last an average of 7-10 days.
Drainage largely depends on the soil used. The addition of small pebbles or sand may help, but make sure that those growing media will work for the plants in your garden. Check with your local garden center for more tips!
Most plants do well in a Harvi. The only exceptions are plants that require very deep soil like some root vegetables or ones that require a large diameter for their root systems to spread out in.
